Pre-NaNoWriMo Prep
Fresh from a
partial manuscript request that turned into a pass from the agent, I’m gearing
up for a new project in lieu of NaNoWriMo.
I’ve had a
certain idea in my head for about 6 months now, but just the other morning I
was listening to the BBC and a particular story struck me as hilarious and
simultaneously all too familiar. Instantly, I knew this was my next
manuscript.
The three
manuscripts I’ve completed are all quiet, contemporary MG with elements of
humor, but definitely not LOL funny or rolling-on-the-floor funny. It’s
exciting to have an idea that is light-hearted and full of life—and that my 9
year old daughter says she’d actually read.
Just this
afternoon I sat down after re-shuffling a manuscript for a critique partner to
tear apart and I scratched out the 7 Elements of Story Structure from Dan Wells for my NaNo project.
I’m eager to get
started. Nothing like a new project to take your mind off rejection! x
